The Nikon J1 is the consumer aimed mirrorless interchangeable lens
camera by Nikon. It is the first attempt by Nikon to get into the
lucrative mirrorless camera market. The Nikon J1 is certainly a good
looking camera and has great specs to match. Nikon have kept the sensor
resolution down to 10.1 megapixels on a new sensor size made just for
the camera, of 13.2mm by 8.8mm. Many people believe that because it is
only 10.1 megapixels it will be low quality, this is due to the
misconception that megapixels relate to the quality of an image, but it
is only the size of the image.
The Nikon J1 takes the new Nikon 1 lenses, and thanks to its electronic
shutter it has a speed of 1/16,000 and can capture a whopping 60 fps. It
can capture fantastic quality Full HD 1080p video and only weights 234
grams. With the included 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6 lens, this gives an
equivalent 27-81mm focal length on a full frame camera.
